During the Sago Mine tragedy in 2006 Kaye reported live for five hours straight through the night and was still live on the air as family members learned just one of their loved ones had survived.  That year Kaye also secured the first television interview with the whistleblower who revealed the controversial prison photos at Abu Ghraib in Iraq.
