Interestingly, there were people who asked Trump forpreemptive pardonsbefore he left office the first time – including Trump’s pick to be attorney general in his second term, former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who withdrew his name from consideration for the role on Thursday. Trump did not grant those pardons.
